Can my wet film be developed??
I went snorkeling a day ago with my waterproof camera (not the disposable ones) and not until tonight after i unpacked my stuff did i find that there was water inside the camera! =(
the water was all brown, kinda like it was from the film. Can I still develop the pictures? What can I do?
The thing to do, if your photos are valuable to you, would be to take your film to a pro lab and explain to them what happened.
Chances are, the film can still be safely processed, but it needs some special handling to prevent damage both to the film and the chemistry used to develop it.
What I would do, were I to want to process this film, is to open in the dark underwater, loading it onto a stainless steel development reel. This would allow the film to unroll without sticking, which it would likely do were you to attempt to unroll it when dry.
I would then put it in a developing tank and rinse it in several changes of running water. After this, it should be able to be safely processed.
A pro lab should be able to do this, or would have some protocol that would work just as well or better than what I've described. Most minilabs wouldn't.
Expect to pay plenty to have this done, though-I'd count on $15 for developing and printing at a minimum, and most likely much more than this.
